As a result, Dhordo is now among the 70 villages in nearly 40 nations that have received this highly coveted title.
Dhordo was awarded this distinction in the Best Tourism Village - 2023 ceremony hosted by the UNWTO in the city of Samarkand, a historic one in Samarkand located in Uzbekistan on the 19th of October 2023.
Who receives the honor of the Best Tourism Village?
This prestigious award goes to villages performing outstanding work in the area developing rural communities, preservation of the natural landscape as well as diverse cultural heritage in terms of local values, the food culture.
The villages that are selected are evaluated based on natural and cultural resources, conservation and promotion of cultural assets as well as sustainability of the economy, stability of society and sustainability of the environment tourism development potential as well as the integration of value chains.

In 2019, Rann Utsav has been scheduled to start on the 26th of October and run until February 20 in 2024. It's a four-month celebration of culture in a natural environment that's stunning.
